    MA Curating Contemporary Art, 2015

  • I am a London-based curator and writer, with a strong interest in performance-based and moving-image practice, as well as public and discursive programming. This is underpinned by a curatorial identity that is centred upon close working relationships with artists, and an investment in experimental and often durational projects that unfold over extended periods of time.

Recent projects include a week-long intensive artistic retreat at Wysing Art Centre, and the commissioning of statement house, an artist house by Jean-Pascal Flavien, which stood for two months in central London and explored an expanded practice of writing through the daily activity of its inhabitants.

I also work as the Studio Manager/Curatorial Assistant to the artist Cally Spooner (who has recently produced large-scale commissions for Tate Modern, High Line Art and Performa 13) predominantly on her two-year project And You Were Wonderful, On Stage, which first took the form of a peripatetic Broadway musical, before being disassembled into a series of discrete works and exhibitions, and finding permanence again as a non-stop motion feature film (essentially a non-repeatable event-based activity) that will premiere at Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam in 2016.

My academic research to date has centred on contemporary performance and its relationship to ideas of “the live” and staging, primarily in the work of Cally Spooner, Cara Tolmie and Alexandra Bachzetsis.
