Frequently self-diagnosing and self-medicating, the Herbalchondriac relies on complementary practices in a holistic approach to prevent, manage or cure ailments. For this reason, and because of the lack of substantial research to support these therapies, they are not currently funded by the National Health Service. Pain can be described as an experience, but it is also the object of an inner perception. My project explores the tension between the subjective and the objective through a centre for the prevention, management and treatment of pain in Hackney.
