The Will of the Wind
Shashank's observations of his home city Amritsar during the annual north-Indian kite-flying season are presented as a multi-channel composition of video and sound. Shots of entangled, struggling and fallen kites appear on monitors positioned on the ground, while an aerial view of the city recorded by a camera attached to a kite is projected as the backdrop. There is an interplay between earth and sky, weight and flight, stasis and movement, curtailment and release, and what is human and what is kite.
