Scott Andrew Millar

MA work

The work I create seeks to explore the emotional attachment one forms with objects. I see myself not only as a maker, but also an artist and collector; each object I work with is the result of a painstaking search for the 'right one', holding the appropriate intrinsic values I seek. Each of these values is entirely subjective, and the attachment I have to the object entirely personal. I seek to persuade the viewer of the beauty in the seemingly ordinary and discarded, deconstructing and reappropriating preconceived notions of beauty and function.
