From a Modernist perspective, decoration and ornament have long been disregarded as being superfluous to function. Downgraded from a definition of luxury, ornament is often treated with suspicion. But ornament can be used to connect with history and tradition.

Looking at the history of ornament, I explored imagery that references the traditions of English nineteenth-century cameo glass. One series follows the motif of the bird as it escapes from its nineteenth-century scenery and explores new surroundings.

A second range of work experiments with print techniques. By using simple image-making techniques, the process develops an original aesthetic.
