MA work
A lifetime of living in suburbia, having to endure the suffocating nature of endless mock-Tudor houses, twitching curtains and the meek mentality of 'making do' is the source of my work.
David Lynch and the film Blue Velvet, in which perfect is a thin veneer covering up something ominous below has influence in my designs. Imagery from suburbia is scratched away to reveal a landscape that exists only behind twitching curtains. A world where the benign is forced into the shadows of urban decay. Designs are printed onto industrial materials such as metal and stone using the process of UV printing to reinforce this connection.
