Phantom Self
The sentiment of longing is at the core of the modern condition – it is something intangible, something we cannot grasp. We long for it only when we cannot see or understand it. Nostalgia has a utopian dimension; stuck between time and space. It becomes a romance with one’s own fantasy. Through a collage of memories, dreams and fantasies, the work is a poetic creation of the modern condition, and a personal exploration of identity and belonging. Its visual and material language suggests the capturing of a momentum, a 'time out of time', which aims to identify aspects of todays culture and society.
