Sandra Fruebing

MA work

Sandra Fruebing's practice looks at social interaction within various environments. At the moment a body of work investigating social implications of borders and in-between spaces is being created. Within her work she does not just look at one certain aspect but also examines the culture around the theme as well.

The project of 'The Individual’s Pursuit' is the creation of a narrative based on a character whose quest is to inhabit an in-between space as an exploration of borders and boundaries. Specially designed apparatus and physical training exercises will be employed in an attempt to fulfill the desire to walk along the edge of water and earth, where both elements meet.

The project challenges our perception of what is accepted as normal and questions common sense. It looks at how borders in a physical and philosophical way create our definition of identity and reality.
