Adaptable Materials
How can the inherent characteristics of a material be transformed or enhanced? Using digital manufacturing methods to create adaptable textiles, I explore the properties of “hard” and “soft” materials.
The project takes inspirations from different absorbing qualities of textiles, and it continues as an ongoing investigation of materials properties. Questioning the perceptions of “rigid” and “flexible” materials, the project explored on the alteration or enhancement of materials qualities through the application of structure. By applying textile thinking onto digital manufacturing methods, along with a highly- analytical and problem- solving approach, I magnified textiles as 3 Dimensional forms.
The project emphasizes on the adaptability of materials; the outcomes facilitate the users with unique sensory interactions. It celebrates the versatility of different matters and blurs the boundaries of “hard” and “soft” materials.

I am a material designer that create new forms of textiles with a focus on material characteristics and construction techniques. I combine textile design thinking along with a problem solving approach when it comes to material innovation as well as their colours and finishings. My recent practice involves experimentations with 'hard' and 'soft', 'rigid' and 'flexible' materials properties. My works often utilise different making processes such as weaving and digital aid manufacturing to create unique sensory experience with materials.
