Haven by Roewe

Growing evidence points towards mental health becoming one of biggest social challenges of the future, and a perfect storm of converging factors could lead to the issue characterising a generation.  The Haven aims to provide a mobile wellbeing solution for young people working in city environments through integrated vehicle, architecture, service and healthcare design.

It’s a fully autonomous electric car – and a genuine attempt to redefine perceptions of private vehicles.  Using NHS guidance, the interior architecture crafts spaces for mindfulness and interaction, initiating two of the biggest steps towards preventing mental health issues. A corresponding service evolved with the concept to enhance the design, socially incentivising people to share the car.

Imagine the afternoon sun softly illuminating the wooden surround of tranquil window seat, whilst dynamic bench seating induces a spontaneity amongst new friends to interact.  In the Haven, it is the many small moments of delight like these that accumulate into a meaningful and beautiful change of environment.

    MA Vehicle Design, 2017

  • I think I’ll always be an architect at heart. But an architectural education instigated in me a passion for design across all aspects of life, not just the spaces we inhabit. This inquisitiveness, combined with a childhood dream, led to Vehicle Design at the RCA. An area of design entirely new to me, I am captivated with approaching it from a different perspective. I have a hunger to learn, to develop, to progress, and the RCA has provided the perfect environment to only further that passion.

I have a desire to have an impact, I want to change the world for the better. With the advent of autonomy and electrification, cars are in a prime position to do that. I want to be a on the forefront of this change, I want to drive it. Design is for all; I want to make cars a solution again.
