In the past year, I have been practicing a lot of printmaking techniques including etching, lithography, screen print, and monotype. Through printmaking, I explore the possibilities of images and found its potential in narrative drawings.Â
My current work deals with feelings of alienation and struggle when traveling abroad. Four artist books represent an intimate journey starting with an escape from my home island, Taiwan, experiencing everyday life in London, crisis in relationships and, finally, inner reflection - looking inside myself and finding ways to move on. I use etching as a way to investigate these subtle but strong emotions; through autobiographical, narrative drawings, I hope my audience will smile along with my dark humour.
Alongside the etchings, I have also produced large monoprint screenprints, which are comparatively colourful and a bit childish, to act as posters for each of the books, and to invite viewers to join my intimate journey.
