  • I am a video artist and my research is on the relationship between the virtual and the real. Deleuze wrote about Henri Bergson’s theory that 'virtual' is not opposed to 'real', but opposed to 'actual', whereas 'real' is oppose to 'possible'. The entangled status of virtual and reality really fascinates me, as I see parallels with the nature of self-consciousness. Embarrassment as an emotion triggered by self-consciousness, happens only when we are in social environments. When embarrassment hasn’t caused an impact, it stays virtual. I am exploring these philosophical concepts in a humorous way, in order to let my audience know themselves by understanding the hidden logic of an emotion that happens often.
