My work explores materiality and our relationship with it. The one-to-one physical encounter between our body and the work is paired with a reassessment of the nature and behaviour of the materials used, which seem to defy their assumed roles and taxonomies.
A recurring theme is the relation between the molecular and the molar: formlessness and flow entering a dialogue with form, structure and systems. This sees materials like poured cement, jelly, glycerin or polyvinyl acetate encountering lines, planes and geometries, and either submitting to them, altering them or oozing their way out.
The operation of uprighting, of making the horizontal become a vertical and the floor become a wall, is also present in several works.
My practice traces an arch between the legacies of Post-Minimalism and Arte Povera and current debates around non-human agency and flat ontology, in which objects and materials are reevaluated and considered on an equal standing with us.
