Materialising spirit
The work represents a personal investigation into the contextual role of cloth in depicting the cultural fabric of Latin America. Driven by a search for the non-normalised, this collection starts in Mexico with pre-Hispanic communities whose own existence challenges our ideas of progress.
Their life practice informed form, design & aesthetics of the garments.
The textiles are made of highly charged materials, inspired by food textures and rituals; aiming to spiritualize matter or materialise spirit.
In this collection, each piece is individual and resists conformity aiming to create a different fashion idiom, a new landscape to a certain way of life.

I'm a fashion designer and my main influences are places of resistance, syncretism and food culture. I am interested in how food can inform and form fabric, and the political experience such material encounters.
