My work is based on forms derived from studies of aerial views I photographed in Iceland. The drastic difference in terrain and climate, highlighted by its seasonal extremes has provided a rich source of imagery through first hand research. The perspective of the harsh geometrical lines of the agriculture and ice fissures in contrast with the natural forms of the meandering rivers and crystallised sulphur, creates unexpected juxtapositions of pattern, motif and structure.

From my studies I have developed methods of embossing and melting shapes into knitted fabrics to create a three-dimensional effect in my work. This quality is a reflection of the multiple textures found in the original source of inspiration.

I have used a combination of techniques to create a series of garments, simple in shape, to show the qualities of the fabrics and complex tonal patterns.
