MA work
Informed by the immersive quality of the painterly and cinematic, this body of work strives after a seeing with reflections on the mystique of the American psyche and dream. A seeing intent on evoking mood, tone, and atmosphere waltzing between boundaries, tensions, and dichotomies through the interplay of surface and form, the unsightly and pleasing, hollowed and contained, nebulous and defined. Of the working process, it is a balance between control and release, letting material state its own and establishing situations for the aleatory to occur. The confluence of colour and texture generates additional layering of movement and meaning between underlying structure and surface as form onto itself.  Â
