PNEUMATIC NOMADIC

Series of performative sculptural listening devices to investigate people's attitudes to the soundscape as a whole, building upon R Murray Schafer’s theory of clairaudience. The pneumatic devices (wearable, shared, self-standing) are built to physically modify the user's sonic perception as a method of purification of the chaotic environmental soundscape through amplifying a single frequency while obscuring others via hand-made Helmholtz Resonators.

    MA Information Experience Design, 2015

  • Born in Istanbul and currently living in London, Özgün Kılıç is an audio/visual artist who communicates her stories through her elaborate builds. Having an animation background and currently doing an MA degree in Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art, her works range from making analogue sculptures with simple mechanisms to narrating and creating experiences using a particular scope of material and digital experimentation, addressing diverse senses at once. She's been a traveller for most of her life, thus her journeys have a significant influence on her research and practice as an in-between artist and designer. She intuitively embodies her collection of objects and memories to her work, rendering her pieces to be presented with an impression of nostalgia then to be shared it with her audience.
