A Thin Line (Between Love and Hate)
The work entraps the viewer in a dichotomy of two screens, between a cyclonic loop of reflective perspectives, the viewer within their own enclosure embodies a pair of floating disembodied white male limbs as they are forcefully made to look and be looked at. These arms lead you round a video game landscape of London zoo whilst the voice they seemingly posses battle an illusive series of reflections, in conversation with their opposition they question their own existence in regards to the abstracted image of the animal before them. As it progresses we begin to realise that no matter how seemingly identical these points of view are, the gap between them is infinitely far.

I adopt various technologies to create dialogues around contemporary images and how see them, forcing the viewer into looking, yet looking differently with their reflection made visible, within the viewing device. I weave together disparate lineages of image, referencing Greek mimesis, trompe l’oeil, CGI and animation. Sewing these lineages together, they begin to talk as their previous internal logic breaks, exposing their structure and making. Utilising the rhizomatic nature of images, I expose the Meta data of their original eco system. Where distinctions between the viewer and viewed fade as they sink into an ouroboros, a space of dualism and multiplicity, in constant oscillation. The work becomes a lucid concoction reflecting this contemporary attention economy of blurred spaces, where our looking habits now form a currency. Here I’ve found the animal to be highest in value, exploited for the sincere, the spectacle and simultaneously the ironic and mundane. The animal image reflects the human condition in that it's representation displays the various ways the human lens frames the natural world.
