flux is a proposal for a near-future energy service provider that integrates the equipment needed to power homes with low-carbon energy into a simple monthly contract. flux tariffs express energy in understandable terms, like the number of wash cycles and hours of heating it equates to, rather than kilowatt hours - which my research found people struggle to relate to. Included in the package is Ele, an in home energy management interface. Customers use Ele, in conjunction with the flux app, to manage their energy use over the course of each month. A product-service system based business model ensures the capital cost of equipment is spread over a ten year period, avoiding upfront costs to the consumer.
