Project Black-Sand

Project Black Sand aims to revolutionize the way we commute in cities, by introducing a system that enables light electric vehicles to become a viable mode of daily transportation.

Light electric vehicles, such as E-bikes, have already been introduced as a clean, efficient and enjoyable commuting option; however, due to a lack of standardised charging infrastructure, these vehicles have not been able to enjoy wide-scale adoption.

I am proposing a uniform charging solution with my invention of a continuous wireless charging surface that can be added on to existing roads, along with a simple receiver unit that attaches to light electric vehicles. I am taking advantage of resonant induction technology that is currently used to wirelessly charge phones, and implementing it on a larger scale to achieve this.

  • √-1

The Square root of -1 is a mathematical impossibility: to get around that and widen the realm of mathematical possibilities it is replaced with – i, these are referred to as complex equations.

This research looks at a future scenario where i = electricity; what if electricity was everywhere? No cables, no localised power sources, no power transformation. On the technical front research is on the way worldwide, from OLEV a wirelessly charged bus in South Korea to Qi, a new standard in wireless charging for low power devices.

How would this new given fact change the way we live, move and design?
