Big Cities, Small Spaces
This project considers globalisation, migration and the impact of an ever-increasing population on already densely-inhabited urban centres. In these big cities, small spaces become more and more significant.
To investigate this issue the project explores a comparative study of live/work spaces that inhabit buildings in three cities, each in a different continent. The small spaces have each been chosen to represent a very particular local vernacular; traditional timber-framed construction in Seoul, a Georgian shopping arcade in London and a water tower in New York.
Accommodation is created for a ceramicist in Seoul, a watchmaker in London and a voyeur in New York.
