Shopping Empire

Shopping Empire addresses the relationship between culture and commerce by exploring the potential power of consumerism to directly benefit a broader social spectrum. There are many examples of shopping taking advantage of contrasting building programmes to create money-making opportunities, but Shopping Empire tests how the balance of these traditionally dependent relationships can be reversed to create educational and cultural exchanges. Shopping Empire introduces museums and information areas into the department store framework and proves that constructive cultural institutions can be incorporated into the consumer environment.
