The decision to study at the RCA came about from a strong need to cross over from fashion accessories to actual clothing, garment design. This menswear collection is the first true attempt at making these steps. The project is inspired by the early twentieth-century explorations of Scott and Shackleton, original photography from the Ponting Collection and imagery from the original huts used in the expeditions. The main objectives within the collection have been the creation of my own original pattern designs, honest handmade qualities, a strong attention to detail and a balance between authenticity and contemporary clothing design.
