MA work

Throughout history, not only luxurious materials were considered valuable but also their portrayals in fine art. Displays of various opulent objects often had a subtext of futility of earthly pleasures, as in ‘Vanitas’ of the Dutch Golden Age. My interest in the history and techniques of jewellery representation influenced my collection, which merges precious objects with their depiction in other medias, mixing 2D and 3D. Surfaces and decorative elements, and traditional hand-painting techniques are combined with contemporary technology like laser welding and rapid prototyping. This subtle approach allowed me to develop an alternative and innovative take on traditional jewellery.
