Square & Veil
In Maotanchang town, the lifestyle of different social groups follows a timeline constructed by a cycle of students with varying degrees of togetherness: there are individual activities, but there are also collective rituals when these groups of people are congregating and sharing urban spaces.
However, they are not free from the timeline constructed for productivity. The project proposes the liberation from the efficiency of organising time. The building is a large square veiled by a single canopy. The material conditions of textile and weaves create different spatial qualities, which define new social relationships in the city.
