People come here everyday / Aquà viene gente todos los dÃas
This project is based on the current situation and physical space of the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre.
Scheduled for demolition in the next year or two, the building is probably facing its last days in the landscape of the city. The community that works in it, most of them migrants, are also facing imminent eviction and they will possibly not be able to go back to work in this area of London.
The building represents an important meeting and recreational space for the neighbouring community and an information point for recently arrived migrants. It is a vibrant and concurred space that has been marked by developers and council authorities as not ideal.
The project reflects on the way people relate, use, and recognises the spaces in the Shopping Centre itself. An exercise of representation as an exercise of ownership.

I'm interested in urban dynamics and the city; I like to observe and speculate about what I find around me; situations, patterns, buildings and people and then question how, when, by and for whom they came to be. I’m particularly aware of the impact these elements have in the way we occupy spaces and relate to each other; that’s why I’m inclined to work around our capacity to represent, embody and negotiate public and private space.
My work usually functions as a commentary; I try to show a relevant angle about wider and more complex perspective constructed through research and personal experience.
I draw, design, and reconfigure space as a habit. I aim to propose and create by critically analysing and exercising memory, politics and emotion.
