Tasty Home: We Invite You
‘Tasty Home’ is a kitchen community project to ease social issues with particular difficulty in integrating people from different countries in Margate.
This would be a scheme that is funded and supported by the government, managed and implemented by a charity such as The Social Kitchen but predominantly run by people from the diverse range of cultures that Margate is home to.
The site for this project is Arlington House in Margate. 22 appointed families of mixed nationality will be placed throughout the first four floors of the building as the first phase of the experiment with newly renovated flats, central communal spaces, communal farms and gardens. Each of these 4 floors will be open to the public once a week in order.
By opening real kitchens, I am aiming to emphasise the authentic and intimate atmospheres of home. Through real kitchens and domestic atmospheres in Arlington House, visitors will understand other people’s life, culture and personality more than a traditional food market.
Through this project, we will celebrate food culture, history, shared family recipes. Food, especially home-cooked meals, becomes the ignition of debate, conversation, relationship and above all, taste!
