The Vertical Mattress

A dreamer finds the mattress he needs in a fancy street of a big city. He does not have the means to take it home so he will have to improvise.

The film is a visual exploration of homelessness and displacement.

The man is trying to reach home, in his way there he wonders what home exactly is.

  • I am a Caribbean painter and animator from Colombia.

The amount of stories in the world is overwhelming. Poetry is out there and as an artist, I can only sketch it, write it down and afterwards recreate it in small worlds of reflective glass. I am still convinced that art goes beyond entertainment or pleasure, it is a way of being, a manner of walking through life.

I have a mixed approach to filmmaking, with a particular interest in expressive light and strong visual metaphors. The topics I have and would love to continue exploring are Identity, Violence, and Belonging.

My preferred style is digital 2D hand-drawn animation, which mimics the traditional feel of analogue materials; nevertheless, mixed media processes are always welcome in the formula, such as 3D, CGI, ink on paper, or video.

So far my films have been based upon personal experiences and thoughts.
