The Refugee Hospital is an independent institution where refugees from all over the world can access free medical treatment, provided by doctors who are themselves refugees. Focusing on the treatment and containment of infectious and communicable diseases, which are almost exclusively seen among London’s refugee population, the hospital allows patients to seek treatment confidently, and medical staff to practise legally, based on the academic qualifications of their countries of origin. As a result, disease is contained, refugee doctors are able to continue practising and new vaccines are discovered and exported to the health services of developing countries.
