    MA Sculpture, 2018

  • Lore Schuerman researches different states of vulnerability amongst humans, fantastical beings and things. To her, the act of making inevitably entails an act of ‘damaging’.

According to Lore, ‘touch’, ‘being touched’ and ‘the memory of touch’ are the starting point for all work.

In her practice she researches strategies for hiding, caring, mourning and imagining.
Over the past decade she has become increasingly more interested in questioning ideas of sanity versus insanity, isolation versus collaboration and fixed forms versus, what she calls, ‘fleeting- moments-in-time’.

Her practice spans from the making of objects and installations (that often have an idea of action or movement within them) to the creation of small public encounters or unannounced actions in open air.
Her aim is to inject the fantastical emotional into daily life even if this is far away from societies cultural hotspots.
