Quality Control

Everyone can relate to a product being Quality Controlled, but very few people know how, why, by who and what Quality Control really means. This body of research takes the discipline and practice of Quality Control in design manufacturing and makes it accessible outside of its own realm through a collaboration between a critical writer and a conceptual artist. By combining portraits with critical analysis, the audience is introduced to Quality Control in a somewhat different fashion, unveiling the previously untold story of the Controllers' everyday, parallel to the illustrated enigmas of what Quality Control has been and what it has the potential to become. This project is a foundation in the quest to make Quality Control an enabling factor for the common good – teaching us all to make better, informed decisions. This initial research serves as the beginning of a larger project, including a proposed design exhibition and a published catalogue.
