Naïve Realism

Rival groups in conflict zones, motivated by contradictory goals and interests, adopt negating collective narratives of the same event – each seeing oneself as the victim and righteous and the other as the perpetrator. This subjective construction of reality described by psychologists as naïve realism.

Stemming from a residency at Art Cube Artists’ Studios, Jerusalem, my work explores the foundational pillars of tension within conflicts – the ideologies of freedom and equality. Utilising archival imagery and the creation of a fictional Declaration of Independence I seek to shine light on the absurdity and tension within our personal belief systems.

  • I am a multidisciplinary visual artist and designer with a passion and practice that explores societal conflicts and dualities.

Fascinated by and with a passion for people, my work explores social issues and societal constructs through first hand immersion and interaction. My practice seeks to expand the boundaries of the art world and delve into the realms of the wider public, creating platforms for dialogue, contemplation and transformation that translate between the gallery and community. Themes in my work are concerned with identity, peprception and language.
