  • The art of Kwanwoo Park comes from his fundamental questions about human self-awareness. He deeply explores the process and the conditions of the phenomena revealed through the othering of itself. The artist challenges the idea and the notion of personal identity and human self-awareness, questioning the traditional ways in which these are understood. Furthermore, he explores how they will be newly understood in the post-human era where the borderline between human and non-human is blurred.

He majored in digital media design at Hongik University and started his art career by making new media installations using interactive technologies. After working as an exhibition designer at the museum, and alternative art spaces for a while, he moved to London to study MA Sculpture at the Royal College of Art, UK, working freely across various media including sculpture, photography, interactive installation, and artificial intelligence chatbot. He is a shortlisted nominee for the Ashurst Emerging Artists Prize in the UK (2018), and POSCO Museum's Emerging Artist Prize (2018) in Korea. Also, he was invited as a presenter at the international HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) conferences such as TEI 2015 at Stanford University in USA and CHI 2015 at COEX in Seoul, Korea. Currently participating in the artist programme ZER01NE, sponsored by Hyundai Motors Group, he now lives and works in London and Seoul.
