Binding Future Fashion
My work captures the tension between traditional and contemporary textile methods. I'm particularly interested in addressing the issues around stitch versus gluing by juxtaposing techniques and materials.Â
After a three month exchange in Tokyo, inspiration for this project came from Japanese vernacular architecture and the notion of setting traditional methods against the futuristic.
For this project I have used natural fabrics such as luxurious silk and cotton combined with silicone printing, 3D bonding and both hand and digital machine stitching. I'm keen to apply these innovative techniques in the luxury fashion market.Â

My work captures the tension between traditional and contemporary textile methods. My influences combine time-honoured crafts, such as Japanese vernacular architecture with the innovations of today’s most futuristic techniques.
I’m curious about developing new processes in the textile area, innovating with methods including silicone bonding, 3D printing and acrylic moulding. Alongside these techniques, I use natural fabrics, such as silk and cotton as well as both digital and manual stitching.Â
I have 10 years of experience in the fashion industry working with companies from supplier level through to luxury brands. I am now keen to bring innovation in textiles and craft into luxury fashion.Â
