the kitchen is the gallery is the kitchen
My show developed from an interest in the edge. Resulting in a broader understanding of in-between space, liminality and points of transition. Everyday experiences of the edge were recorded poetically to create tangible works. Words were picked in which associations could be made to remove myself from the original scenario allowing juxtapositions to form such as the sole of a shoe and a lemon sole. Objects flux between circumstance while capture fleeting moments or unconscious habits. With a strong interest in the domestic setting I have marked the kitchen as the gallery and explore its capabilities.

Kathleen Reilly is a Scottish metalsmith and interdisciplinary maker. Her work explores expectations of contemporary dining practice. Everyday understandings are examined through Reilly’s own method of poetic problem solving. This involves writing to develop making with an attraction to practicality. She reinvents the common place with elegant and often witty outcomes that can carry ambiguous functions.
