MA work

MA work

In my work I capture the harmonious imperfections of growth patterns found within nature and architecture, translating these into jewellery that grows on the complex surfaces of the human body. The urban landscape surrounding me shapes the aesthetic of my work – towering skyscrapers, with their mirror-polished façades are a particular focus of interest. Photo-etched units made from thin sheet metal are enamelled with the plique-á-jour technique, and amalgamated into multifaceted jewellery growths, using fine laser-welded wire structures that closely follow the contours of the human body. With the delicacy of mould these structures emerge from the crevices of the body like glittering, pustular microcosms.
