Sausage, Dogs & Schadenfreude (Don't Lose Your Head)
The Degree Show work is a visual response to my dissertation, Sausage, Dogs & Schadenfreude (Don't Lose Your Head), a febrile epic written on the Sussex seaside for an eight-year-old girl, which explored the Wildermann – or Wild Man – phenomenon (found in many highland regions of Europe and elsewhere), Anglo-German relations, bears, conflict, decapitation, unexpected death, dogs, fate, firefighting, steel helmets, masculinity, migration, mythmaking, masks, the manufacture of paper and sausages.
A fertile subject matter in this time of exiteering and post Cold-War trouble.Â

I draw, paint, print and make things. I came to the Royal College of Art after living several years in a German forest, and my work, for the time being, is the product of that experience. This included being a bear for a day.Â
