Presence of Absence
This collection explores the Presence of Absence in both a literal and poetic meaning. This theme investigates how creating voids in pattern, texture and materials effect the construction and handling of the fabric. Designing for the body, the project experiments with de-contextualising different fabrics and materials, integrating these together in material compositions. The poetic and literal notions of the Presence of Absence are created through material manipulation, joining, layering, tension and imagery.

My work focuses on the use of materials and processes to create engineered fabric pieces, often creating prints through material compositions. I explore how these combinations, along with pattern and scale, can effect construction, weight, tensile strength and handling of the fabric and the relationship of these fabrics to the body.
