My final collection at the RCA started with a journey through the paintings of Rothko and Richter, as well as the seascape studies of Sugimoto. The aim was to create eight pairs of shoes that capture the sensitivity of these paintings and photographs. I wanted to play with the tension between the moving and the still. An optical illusion of the blurred shoe draws together different materials and depth of painted textures. The shoes are represented as pairs, where in some there is a continuation of movement from the left to the right that expresses itself in asymmetry.
