You see the problem with politics is not that it’s too complex

I mean, it seems like the governments dealing with things after a couple of becks, you see,

the reason it’s complex is because it’s a lot like sex.

They say it takes two to tango, but often only provides for the individual,

and the problem is that it has made us all cynical,

of a system who could provide for us, but...  wouldn’t that be a miracle?

You see the problem with politics is that it’s about people.

And people don’t really see each other as equal,

so, how can we live in a system that isn’t evil.

You see the problem with peopleIs that people are always rather feeble,

and with the NHS in crisis, and the world’s changing climate,

no wonder people think that politics is untameable.

But it’s not. It’s just that people are feeble,

all the while creating a sense of upheaval

by telling each other things like ‘you are illegal’.

And then there are the liberals, like me,

who sit at home on their throne, acting like societal generals

telling people to be tolerant.

A huge conglomerate,

of like minded people,

Who think that everyone’s equal.

But not you, you right wing left wing pile of trash,

how dare you think you can take anything off my pile of cash,

to help the NHS.

Or that poor bloke, down the road

who likes to goad, shouting his racist insults at everyone like he’s about to explode

but perhaps he needs help, that poor bloke down the road,

maybe his goading is a cry for salvation,

but then gets ignored by the liberals who want to save him.

The problem with politics, is people,

and people have forgotten how to treat each other like people.

How can we improve the world now when we reject ideas based merely on who said them? While doing this, we are alienating more, distancing ourselves from the people around us, fighting against the world doesn’t work. But listening, conversing, discussing with people does. To me there is nothing more liberal in mind today than the act of conversation. Where the rules are not defined by government or ideological systems. A conversation is an act in which both sides are heard. Both sides are felt. Both sides are important.

  • A practice that focusses on the current political climate, and understanding ourselves and the other.

One fourth of a London based studio focussing on the exploration of design and what it can be in today's connected society. Interactive experiences, websites, print, branding, type design and systems are all part of what we do. Over the past six years we have created design solutions for a variety of sociocultural clients, charities and causes. We work with a conceptually rigorous and pragmatic approach, based on the ethos and needs of our clients.
