  • John Zhang studied Architecture at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Art, where he won the Conran Foundation Design Award and the Will Alsop Award for Urbanism for his thesis. John joined architecture practice DSDHA in 2005 and became an Associate in 2013. 

    John’s upbringing, his cultural background and his professional experience inform his research interests in contemporary Chinese architectural practice. He is fascinated by the ways in which buildings are commissioned, conceived and made in a rapidly transforming China. He holds a special interest in filmmaking as an evocative and immersive tool in the realisation and communication of his research.
