• My research focuses on the discrepancies and correspondences between what we see and what we think we see when viewing images that are not readily resolvable into a single, reliable interpretation. As a filmmaker, my interest is in the potential use of visual / optical cinematic devices to provoke a state of uncertainty in the viewer, from which to sub-sequently direct their experience. The particular phenomenon of ‘seeing-as’ — a form of imaginative perception — is invest-igated from both a phenomenological and a neurological perspective, partly through an MRI study in collaboration with the Department of Visual Neuroscience at Imperial College London.
