A Tajo Abierto
My project aims to question the underground as a spatial concept in the Peruvian context, where it is politically, socially and culturally charged. By revisiting ancient Andean cosmovisions and taking the site of the biggest copper mine in Peru, I aim to dissect and unveil abstract intangible spatial systems. Through the use of myth and media, my proposal aims to remediate repressed understandings of the ground as a subtle form of contestation.

I’m interested in large-scale spatial operations that resonate towards small hand-held scales and vice versa. My work deals with the politics of the ground, ranging from territorial questions to repressed cosmovisions. By dissecting abstract and intangible constructions, I design environments, objects, buildings, films and strategies which challenge notions of power.
