a place to be moved.

Exploring a physical question of self and social expression, Jo’s work looks to the physicality of dance.  She records the movement, posture and gestures of a contemporary dancer whilst also recording the space that the performer leaves behind.  Her work celebrates the body in space as well as the movement of the mundane, observing dynamic gestures and everyday routines.

Jo uses film and live drawing to influence design whilst key processes including leather intarsia and hand weaving inform surface development. With an emphasis of leather development Jo has designed a collection of textiles for the luxury leather goods and accessories market.
