MA work

MA work

I am interested in creating visual experiences to invite the viewer to contemplate the world of colour and form.

Most of my work combines personal narrative with fantasy, memory and abstracted shapes.  I am particularly interested in the repetition of circles as the symbol of a being which represents a living character in my works. I am also interested in human nature, landscape and abstraction which transform into everyday objects or symbols in my work.

As a former Painting student at the RCA who transferred to Visual Communication, I have combined my painting skills with narratives and  publication to generate my works across platforms.

  • I am a South Korean artist, based in London and Seoul. My work varies from painting (which is my background) to narrative explorations.

I am interested in creating visual experiences to invite the viewer to contemplate the world of colour and form.

For me, the act of making art is a powerful communication tool that can act as a bridge between unconsciousness and reality, and the most satisfying way of communicating with and reacting to society.

In my work, I want to create a psychological space that feels familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time.  Most of my work combines personal narrative with fantasy, memory and abstracted shapes.  I am particularly interested in the repetition of circles and I am also interested in human nature, landscape and abstraction which transform into everyday objects or symbols in my work. I create my work using mixed-media, such as  paint, collage and graphite. I also use the images to create narratives in picture book form.

As a former Painting student at the RCA who transferred to Visual Communication in my second year to broaden my experience, I have combined my painting skills with narratives and  publications to generate works across multiple platforms.
