Inked & The Bells of London

Inked

Tattooing skin has existed since man’s earliest history as a form of identity and self-expression, leaving an indelible mark on the body. In this project I am industrialising the craft of tattooing into an automated system to permanently mark leather.

The Bells of London

I’m interested in how sound can define culture groups within a city, creating identity through acoustic territories. For this project I am working with the techniques and materials used for traditional bell casting in order to create a new sound for a bicycle bell that will define the growing cycling culture in London.

    MA Design Products, 2014

  • I'm a New York-based designer who received a Bachelor’s of Industrial Design with Honors from Pratt Institute in 2010. After graduating, I worked as a furniture and lighting designer at David Weeks Studio, then moved on to the world of product design at Quirky, where I followed products from sketch to production for companies such as GE and Target.

In 2012 I decided to pursue my own projects and attended the Design Products programme at the Royal College of Art in London. My two graduating projects, Inked and The Bells of London show my interest in constructing design narratives that are rooted in an anthropological approach to design. Both projects demonstrate my role as instigator, creating connections from past cultures to the context of the modern day.

Upon graduating, I hope to continue to develop my design methodology within my own practice.
