The Second Body

There are tides in the body

Little death,

And what matter

For In me too the wave rises; it arches its back.

She opened her mouth.

  • What does it mean to interact with the world? Where might we locate the thresholds of interactions with others, where do these limits exist or manifest? Touch and being in touch seem vital to how we de-centre ideas of self in order to face our problematic relations with each other and with our planet.

Jasmine's work attempts to navigate a sense of the enormous and near intractable responsibility of properly acknowledging our relationship with the material world – being of it rather than merely on it – and thereby to ourselves at the most intimate level. Her work brings into question the notion of the thresholds between humans – the skin of being – this in-between space we occupy with others and with nature.
