Major Project: Some Letters From Limbo Land: A Provisional History of Exit Press

'Some Letters from Limbo Land' charts the regional intersections of art, writing and visual poetry in the small press activities of Exit, a magazine edited by the writers and artists Ian Breakwell and John Hall throughout the latter half of the 1960s.

Initially conceived as a modest chapbook of new poetries, Exit would embrace the international influences of fluxus ephemera, mail art and the poem object, reconceptualising the form of the magazine in the process. With contributions by Richard Hamilton, Jeff Nuttall, Dom Sylvester Houedard and Bob Cobbing amongst many others, Exit attempted to negotiate the space between publication and exhibition, art and writing, by developing new choreographies of reading, collaboration and interpretation; a clutter of loose leafs, a suitcase of curious photographs, the individual stanzas of a poem interpreted by a ceramicist, wall poster performances.
