‘The contemporary city has lost its echo.’Â
– Juhani Pallasmaa, The Eyes of the Skin

In an exploration of sound within the city, silence cleanses the auditory palette. Spaces that were once perceived to be chaotic can be reimagined. By presenting the site on the busy corner of Ludgate Circus as a silent vista viewed from an architecture of anechoic chambers, a tranquil yet uncanny experience is created. The proposal for a ‘musical city’ with concert venues, a music school and an experimental acoustic laboratory provides a collection of finely tuned auditory conditions with focus on the interiority of the spaces.
