Softly does it

Collaborating with children to create their manifesto for the future, I’ve made a series of rugs that make their words physical and share them with the world. In doing so I’ve preserved the hopes they expressed- juxtaposing both the profound and the silly- so that they last into the future as the children themselves grow older. Hopefully as they do so they’ll enact their manifesto and form the world into a better place, until they do, my rugs allow their words to comfort in the present through their soft material form.

  • I would define myself as a maker of tactile aphorisms, with a practice largely concerned with the act of sharing a story in some sense, making work that is usually rendered typographically. The work I produce is always an accessible way into a deeper conversation, an easy door to walk through to arrive at the start of a complex understanding.
